Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Company Profile
Award-winning Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines offers a friendly, classic experience across its fleet of four stylish, more intimately-sized ocean cruise ships – Balmoral, Braemar, Boudicca and Black Watch – and its dedicated European river cruise ship, Brabant.
Fred. Olsen offers a traditional, British cruise experience, appealing to the 50-plus market, with English spoken on board and transactions carried out in Pounds Sterling. The smaller size of their ships enables them to bring the world ‘closer’ to their guests by sailing into the heart of destinations, and creates the warm, friendly ambience on board for which they are renowned. The largest of the fleet, the flagship Balmoral, carries just 1,350 guests.
In 2020/21, Fred. Olsen will visit no fewer than 277 destinations in 90 countries, across six continents, covering 104 areas of scenic cruising, on 170 different itineraries. Complementing the UK departure ports of Southampton, Dover, Liverpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh (Rosyth), Fred. Olsen will also be offering an expanded programme of exotic fly-cruises in 2020/21.
Fred. Olsen was also proud to be named ‘Best Ocean Cruise Line’ for the fourth consecutive year in the prestigious Silver Travel Awards 2019, exclusively tailored to the 50+ traveller, in June 2019, and also ‘Best Cruise Line Operator for Groups’ at the 2019 Group Travel Awards.
This followed on from receiving the titles of ‘Best for Itineraries’ in the Cruise Critic UK Editors’ Pick 2018 Awards, for a record fourth consecutive year, and also ‘Best for Shore Excursions’ for the first time.
